Weeknotes Week 12 2024: March 17-23
- A busier week at work this week. It was interrupted by an eye exam on Tuesday which had me seeing a super bright and colorful day due to dilation of my pupils so that the eye doctor could check out my retinas.
- The ARDC meetings continued, and as a volunteer for their Technical Advisory Committee, I am still feeling like I'm catching up. It's already the end of Q1 and I still feel like a noob.
- Productive time at G-Elite Martial Arts as we reviewed the sparring, and I had a chance to train 1:1 with Sir Ian from Apex Martial Arts. He helped me find paths to drill over and over till they become reflexive.
- Reaction time and combos are a matter of training and repetition. You can't think too much while in a fight.
- It's been overall a great week. Happy to be alive, to be well in the family, and to have a good set of routines and maintenance.
- This week I tried dishwasher sous vide and after the pan searing post-cycle it turned out well-done and quite good.
- I made a great chili on Saturday for lunch, and it is the first time I incorporated chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, in addition to the (now regular) pasilla, New Mexico, cascabel, arbol, and negros rehydrated chiles that I get from the local Mexican market store.
- On Saturday, my brother-in-law stopped by and we toured our favorite local breweries in this city.
- We went to Tilted Mash, Flatland Brewing Company, and Dust Bowl Brewing Company's Old Town Tap House. All of these have great beers, mostly in the IPA style, but some great sours as well.
- Since I don't really drink beer these days (keto diet), I went with tasters at these places. Then I got a double cheeseburger with no bun, which was fantabulous.
